Will I pretend I have a husband, or not wear my ring to work? Or just tell the truth, and run the very real risk of encountering homophobia and losing patient trust? And then I wonder what I will do when I am (hopefully) wearing a wedding ring. Usually I end up denying the existence of my partner, who is one of the most important people in my life. A knot forms in my stomach and I choke on my words.
